His name was Bambang. I had a broken necklace on me — more out of habit than hope — and he fixed it on the spot, no charge, no fuss. It turned out he had the same labradorite stone in stock, so we made a ring together right there. That was the first piece.
For the next two months I kept coming back, sitting with him for hours, just watching and learning. I was hooked. Not on the idea of starting a brand — just on the stone, the fire and the hammer, and a craftsman who was generous enough to let a stranger sit in his workshop and learn.
